Edgware SNT Ward Panel
With the consent of the people, serving all of the Communities of Edgware Ward in the London Borough of Barnet.
Duties and Responsibilities
As well as working on Edgware's Priorities, the SNT has many other responsibilities which must be covered on a daily basis
What do the team do?
- They provide daily foot and bicycle patrols in and around Station Road, the Broadwalk Centre and the Bus Station.
- Daily patrols on the 142, 642 and 107 bus routes as well as patrols at specific bus stops to maintain good behaviour by students in the area before and after school.
- Patrols through the Stonegrove and North Broadfields Estate areas to tackle Antisocial Behaviour.
- A dedicated Sabbath patrol every Friday and Saturday around the Synagogues in the area.
- Regular visits to pubs in the Edgware Pub-Watch scheme, especially on Friday evenings
- General patrols through the rest of the ward areas.
- Presentations are often given at local schools, clubs and Neighbourhood Watch meetings.
- The provision of regular public meetings.
- Advice surgeries in locations such as the Broadwalk Centre and streets around the ward.
- Attend Ward Panel Meetings, Community Focus Groups, youth action initiative meetings and other community based contact opportunities.
- Support other agencies when requested.
- Provision of crowd and vehicle control for parades including Remembrance Sunday and Palm Sunday.
Shift times vary each day, but the team will generally be on duty for 8-hour periods anytime between the hours of 8 am and 2 am. On some occasions, where specific operational demands dictate, the team may operate two overlapping shift patterns allowing for 10 duty hours instead of the usual 8, HOWEVER, the norm is for the team to work together on one 8 hour shift.
The team will also target crime issues, as well as deal with requests from the community. They are there to deal with issues that the public raise.
The ethos of the SNT is to take a partnership approach with other
agencies / associations when dealing with local issues. This allows
a concerted and unified response by all interested agencies when
enforcement is needed to remedy a situation.
